Merchant Street Improvements

Starting in mid-August the City of Emporia will be doing a paving project on Merchant from 12th Avenue north to the Interstate turnoff. This part of the project is estimated to be completed by the first week of October.  This will disrupt access to parking lots and entries/exits to campus at different times during this time period.  We will work on alternate routes on getting to the west parking lots as needed throughout the project.

Additionally, Westar (Evergy) will be starting on the relocation of the overhead power lines to underground service in September and will continue to March 2019.  There should be little disruption to normal vehicular and pedestrian traffic.  Most work will be underground.  There will be three above ground boxes that will need roping off during this work.  Work will be from the intersection of Commercial Street and 12th Avenue west to the intersection of Merchant Street and 12th Avenue north to the Interstate turnoff.

More information will be posted as the project progresses.
