National Computer Security Day!
One great way to keep your computer (or other device) safe is to have a unique password/passphrase in place!
Unique account, unique password: Having separate passwords for every account helps to thwart cybercriminals. At a minimum, separate your work and personal accounts and make sure that your critical accounts have the strongest passwords. Also, a strong password is a sentence that is at least 12 characters long. Focus on positive sentences or phrases that you like to think about and are easy to remember (for example, “I love golden retrievers!”). On many sites, you can even use spaces!

New Email Filter Coming Soon!
IT is pleased to announce that we will soon be implementing new email filtering software. An addition to our current Symantec Endpoint Protection, the new filter is more adaptable to ever-changing phishing attempts and email scams.
The Symantec email filter will be brought online while the current Barracuda filter is still running. Some users may get two email notifications for a few days while both systems are filtering. This is to ensure that no mail is lost while we enable the new system. Once it is fully functioning, the old Barracuda system will be turned off. More information will be available as we draw nearer to our go-live date in mid-December.

Colombia Meeting this Monday
We are having a meeting to talk about the study abroad to Colombia this Monday, Nov. 19th from 5 to 7p.m. in Plumb Hall 308.
This is a great chance do some exploring while gaining valuable (and marketable!) skills and experience. The experience of international travel and Spanish language skills (much easier to pick up while immersed in the language and culture) can be valuable to anyone in many areas of our lives, whatever your personal and professional goals may be.
Please check out the website we've created to give you and your family easy access to all the trip info. On this website you can find details about the payment plan, resources for financial aid, bios about our Spanish professors and trip chaperones, and some links to help you learn about and get excited to explore Bogota. There is also general information about our department, the degrees we offer, and how to add a Spanish minor to your academic plan (only 13 hours and this trip would knock out 6 of them!).
Here's the link:
https://sites.google.com/view/esuscolombiastudyabroad2019/trip-info
This will be a come and go meeting and a chance to speak and ask questions to Dr. Spaulding and Dr. Robinson, as well as Mark Daly and Chie Zenno from the Office of International Studies and Darcy Johnson from Financial Aid.

- something else?
Special Collections and Archives wants you to share it! You'll have a mic and five minutes to tell us What's On Your Mind. Bring your original thoughts, or do a "cover"--or just come to be part of the audience.
This event is open to students and other members of the ESU community aged 18 and older. It will take place on November 14 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on the third floor of William Allen White Library, with sign-up starting at 6:30. Seating is limited to 50. Free popcorn will be provided!
