Conversation Partners Needed
Conversation partners are needed to meet with international students.
Conversation partners is a program that pairs international students with fluent English speakers for casual conversation. The program seeks to offer international students an opportunity to practice using English in a casual setting and to promote intercultural communication and understanding on campus.
Partners meet for one hour each week. The two partners choose a time and place to meet that is convenient for both.

Internet Maintenance Next Week
IT will be performing network maintenance next Friday night, August 31, 2018, which will affect all access to and from campus. Between the hours of 7:00 PM and 11:00 PM, access to the Internet, and any ESU network services, including email and Canvas, will be unavailable intermittently. The outages will be brief, 15 minutes or less, but will happen several times over the course of the maintenance. Questions may be directed to the IT Help Desk. As always, thank you for your patience while we perform this critical maintenance.
New IT Billing Form
IT has launched a new form called IT Billing that works much like other OnBase billing forms. Any departmental requests still need to be initiated thru a helpdesk ticket. Once the work or service request has been received, IT will create a billing form, which will route for departmental approvals using the AP Approval Matrix, and when billing information has been received, the service will be performed. Funds will be transferred from the index you provide to IT the same as the FAC Service Request process.
For a short time IT will also be billing for services that have already been performed in order to bring any outstanding billing up to date.

Merchant Street Improvements
Starting in mid-August the City of Emporia will be starting a paving project on Merchant from 12th Avenue north to the Interstate turnoff. This part of the project is estimated to be completed by the first week of October. This will disrupt access to parking lots and entries/exits to campus at different times during this time period. We will work on alternate routes on getting to the west parking lots as needed throughout the project.
Additionally, Westar (Evergy) will be starting on the relocation of the overhead power lines to underground service in September and will continue to March 2019. There should be little disruption to normal vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Most work will boring underground. There will be three above ground boxes that will need roping off during this work. Work will be from the intersection of Commercial Street and 12th Avenue west to the intersection of Merchant Street and 12th Avenue north to the Interstate turnoff.
More information will be posted as the project progresses.
