Recently, some users have reported receiving emails from what appears to be coming from someone in their department, but have an email address that is different from their ESU email address. For example, XYZ@gmail.com instead of XYZ@emporia.edu. These emails usually ask for the users to purchase iTunes cards for them. Similarly, we have received reports of text messages coming from unknown numbers claiming to be someone from the University. These are scams, and attempts to gain private information from you. Delete the emails, and texts. A reminder to please be vigilant about who the sender is, when responding to emails and text messages.
If you have received such an email/text please report to helpdesk (620-341-5555). Thank you!
