Volunteers Needed for Read to Succeed Literacy Project
Would you like to help an elementary student improve their reading? The Kansas Masonic Literacy Center is organizing volunteers to listen to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders at Timmerman Elementary School in Emporia read for 30 minutes once a week to improve their reading fluency beginning January 16 and ending April 26. Appropriate level books are already selected and the volunteer listens to the student read and helps them with unknown words. Choose a day and time that fits your schedule:
Wednesdays: 8:45-9:15 am for 2nd graders
Fridays: 11:30-12 noon for 4th graders
Fridays: 12:25-12:55 pm for third graders
If Fridays work for your schedule you have the option of listening to a 4th grader read, stay for lunch with the student and then listen to a 3rd grader read after lunch.
