ELECTRICAL OUTAGE

We have been working with Westar to provide a window of time to allow them to perform maintenance and repairs on their electrical substation located on our campus.  This occurs every 5 to 7 years.  After consideration of many different dates the outage has been set to occur on Sunday, May 19, 2019 from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. . This will not affect the art compound location, the Sauder Alumni Center, the Earl Center or the Trusler Sports Complex.  Emergency generators will be in operation at Cremer hall (to keep I.T.’s main computer operation up), Science Hall (to keep designated essential pieces of equipment operating), Police and Safety, Memorial Union (for emergency lights and cold food storage) and the Power Plant.  I.T. on-line operations will be operational from off campus during this time.  The campus will be closed to the public during this time.  There will be no electrical power, lights or HVAC.  This will be a “hard” shut off and turn on.  Please be sure to back up and turn off any computers or equipment that can be affected by this.  Please contact me if you have any questions regarding this outage at mrunge@emporia.edu .  We regret any inconvenience this will cause but I’m sure that a planned outage is far better than having it unplanned.   Thanks for your cooperation.​
