Emporia Business Education Tour 2019 (BUS TOUR)
Time: October 16, Wednesday, 5:30 -7:30pm
Students will have an opportunity to learn about entrepreneurship, small business development, and the business history of Emporia. Here are a few major themes:
- Historical Background leading to Emporia’s Territorial Founding
- Abolition of Slavery, Kansas Nebraska Act and Territorial Settlement
- What was The Emporia Town Company? Vision and Plan
- The Three Phases of Emporia Development
- Founding & Development, 1857 - 1895
- Booster Period, 1895 - 1945
- Industrial Development, 1945 – 2010
Bus tour service is provided by Prairie Earth Tours Company. The tour narratives will be provided by Mr. Roger Heineken. The bus tour will start at 727 Commercial Street, Emporia Main Street office at 5:30 pm on October 16. Students will get to visit the major landmarks of the town. Each student will receive a FREE Emporia Main Street T-shirt.
FREE to all ESU students. Seats are limited. First come, first serve.
