Listen to sociologist Dr. Don Willis share about his research on food insecurity among college students on Friday, October 18.
Dr. Willis will deliver a talk titled “Food and the Social Reproduction of Inequality” at 10 a.m. and Noon in Visser Hall Room 330. In his talk, he will discuss the role of food insecurity in shaping opportunity within the university context. Dr. Willis is an assistant professor of Sociology and coordinator of Poverty Studies at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. His research has been published in a wide range of sociological and public health journals, including Appetite, Public Health Nutrition, Youth & Society, and Sociological Spectrum.
This talk is the second speaker event sponsored by the EAT Initiative — standing for Emporia at the Table: Ending Hunger in Our Community. The EAT Initiative aims to establish partnerships across ESU’s campus and within the Emporia community to fuel education, research, and action on food insecurity.
