The Ethnic and Gender Studies Program is now accepting applications for the Susan B. Anthony Scholarship and nominations for the Dr. Mary F Headrick Award and the Ruth Schillinger Award.
Susan B. Anthony Scholarship
This scholarship is normally in the $1,000- $1,200 range and will be awarded to the student who best satisfies the following requirements:

Demonstrates/has demonstrated the greatest or most beneficial contribution to the growth and education of women on the Emporia State University campus

Demonstrates excellence in scholarship (i.e., grade point average and academic honors)

Shows financial need
Mary F. Headrick Award
Dr. Headrick was known for her tireless efforts to ESU and in the Emporia community to help women reach their full potential. This award is designed for those who go the extra mile, making a long-term commitment to promoting the growth of women and girls in our schools and community, in such capacities as mentoring, service, or acting as a role model. Recipients of the award may be members of the ESU community, such as faculty or staff, or members of the larger Emporia community.
Ruth Schillinger Award
Ruth Schillinger was a beloved faculty member at Emporia State University in the mid-twentieth century. She was also ESU's last Dean of Women. Dr. Schillinger died in 1997 and is commemorated through this annual award. Past recipients have included Dr. Betsy Yanik, Dr. Ellen Hansen, former Dean Marie Miller, Dr. Gaelynn Wolf Bordonaro, and Professor Amy Sage Webb. The Ruth Schillinger Award is presented to a member of the faculty who has been nominated by a colleague, student, or other interested individual. The text on the plaque reads: "The Ruth Schillinger Faculty Award for Outstanding Service to the Women of Emporia State University is presented to (Prof X) in recognition of her/his many contributions to the lives of Emporia women." The recipient should be involved in service to the women of Emporia State University in capacities such as teaching, mentoring, advising and/or publishing. The award recipient will be selected by a committee of faculty from across the campus.
All applications and nomination forms can be picked up in the Ethnic and Gender Studies Office (in the Dean of LA&S’s Office), Butcher 033. All applications and nominations are due by 5pm on Tuesday, March 3, 2019.
