You might be eligible for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) due to temporary student exemptions that were in the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021. These exemptions will be in effect until 30 days after the COVID-19 public health emergency is lifted at the federal level.
If you meet all other financial and non-financial SNAP eligibility criteria, as a student who is attending half-time or greater, if EITHER of these two items apply to you, you may qualify for SNAP benefits.
· Have an expected family contribution (EFC) of zero for the current academic year
o If you have submitted a 2020-2021 FAFSA, your EFC can be found on the Award Overview tab under My Financial Aid Award in Hornet 365, or on the Student Aid Report (SAR) received from the Federal Student Aid.
· Are eligible to participate in State or Federally financed work study during the regular academic year, as determined by the institution of higher education
o If you have Federal Work Study listed on your financial aid offer as Offered or Accepted, you would be eligible
o If Federal Work Study is not listed on your financial aid offer, contact the financial aid office to determine your eligibility
You must have a valid 2020-2021 FAFSA on file to determine your EFC or work-study eligibility. If you have not submitted it yet, you may still do so at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa.
